I am very pleased to announce that I will be speaking at the Converge South 2013 conference. The conference will be held on October 11, 2013 at the Elliot University Center on the campus of The University of North Carolina Greensboro in Greensboro, North Carolina. A friend of mine and co-worker, Debbie Schallock asked Lanita Goins and myself to join her for a presentation discussing integrated marketing and social media strategy. Specifically we will be talking about the successful multi-platform social media strategy that we implemented this year at UNCG as the university’s social media team, (were like the Three Musketeers of social media! LOL).
**Disclosure: I work as a Web Manager for the University Relations department at the University of North Carolina Greensboro and I am also a social media strategist as a third of the social media team for the university. Now,…carry on.***
Converge South is a very unique conference event and a popular annual gathering for the Triad’s tech and creative thought leaders. It combines the technical, social and creative aspects of the web into one power-packed event. In previous years, the volunteer-lead event has attracted such speakers as Robert Scoble, Craig Newmark, and Mark Schaefer to name a few. The event coordinators limit the event’s attendees to just a few hundred so that they an ensure you don’t feel like a small fish in a big pond (or silo as is the trend in my line of work) and you feel comfortable talking to and interacting with other attendees and speakers at the event. I can honestly say that in my previous years attending this conference, this has indeed been my experience. I have made some great friends and sincere professional connections through conversations I have had during the conference. I look forward to making many more this year.
In addition to being excited about speaking, I am also excited about the keynote speaker and Twitter friend of mine, Glen Gilmore. Glen has been named one of Forbes “Top 50 Social Media Power Influencers.” Along with being a social media strategist, Glen is also an attorney and author of “Social Media Law for Business.”
At the close of the conference, I will post an update to this post along with the slides from our presentation. In the meantime, make sure you check out the Converge South schedule and lineup of speakers and most importantly, GET YOUR TICKET NOW!
